Microsoft recently announced their intention to change SkyDrive’s name to OneDrive and add new features in the process. Well, today is the day when it has all gone live. Now you can tuck into all the new OneDrive goodness and even earn extra storage for free!

If you already have an account, then everything will be switched over automatically for you. All you have to do is enjoy an even better OneDrive experience.
One of the awesome new perks with OneDrive is the ability to earn extra storage for free as seen in the following excerpt:
From the OneDrive Blog post: We’re rolling out several new capabilities, including automatic camera backup for Android and the ability to share and view videos just as easily as photos. We’ve also added new ways for you to earn more storage—on top of the 7 GB we already give you for free. Customers who refer friends can now receive up to 5 GB (in 500 MB increments) for each friend who accepts an invitation to OneDrive, and we’ll even give you 3 GB just for using the camera backup feature, since we want to help make sure you never lose another photo.
OneDrive is also available for all of the following platforms and devices: Windows, Windows Phone, Office, Xbox, iPhone, Android phone, iPad, Android tablet, Windows device, and Mac.
The following video provides a nice overview of what OneDrive has to offer.
Two things to keep in mind are:
- There have been a few reports of the roll-out not showing up yet in some locations, but that should not last very long.
- You may still see some old SkyDrive branding in a few places like Windows 8, Microsoft Office, etc. until the next update for them rolls out.
